      "Newham Writes" Event at Leytonstone Library 24th October 2019

On Thursday 24th October three Newham writers took to the stage together at Stratford Library in "Newham Writes", as part of Newham Libraries' Black History Month. Wayne Walton was there to record the event for Forest Radio.

Courttia Newland , Luan Goldie and Irenosen Okojie talked as a panel about their lives, work and inspirations.

Courttia Newland, author of seven works of fiction that include his debut novel 'The Scholar' and his last novel, 'The Gospel According to Cane' has been awarded the Dagger in the Library Award and has been described as 'a poet of the city'.

Irenosen Okojie author of novel 'Butterfly Fish' and two collections of short stories is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and has chaired panel events which included Joanne Harris and Margaret Atwood.

Luan Goldie was the winner of the Costa Short Story Award in 2017 and her debut novel, 'Nightingale Point' has achieved notable critical acclaim.
