The first Royal Welsh Show was held in Aberystwyth in 1904. It has occupied its present location in Llanelwedd, mid Wales, since 1963. The nearest station is Builth Wells, on the Central Wales line, which runs from Shrewsbury to Swansea.
Every year there is sheep and cattle judging, pony displays, sheep shearing and carriage driving and competitions demonstrating magnificent horsemanship in the main ring. This year there was a supberb display from a Ukranian team. Acrobatics on horseback...why not ?
The Bolddog FMX motorcyle team also display amazing skills in the
air.
Personal favourites are the sheepdog trials and Meirion Owen and his
Quack Pack, dancing ducks controlled by sheepdog Sian.
Another highlight of the event are the iconic JCB Dancing Diggers,
showing off their mechanical prowess in the main ring.
Welsh produce abounds and there's plenty of Cwrw (Welsh Beer) to whet your appetite for the fresh farm food on sale.
A wonderful event for everyone, taking place in July each year.
